October 1989 has a disastrous start for ten-year-old FREDERIKE. Her beloved UNCLE MIKE is expelled from the GDR and has to leave the country within 48 hours. Frederike and her friends construct a teleporting machine to beam herself to the West to visit her uncle Mike. After the experiment dramatically fails a race against time begins.
