We are proud to announce that ‘I Matter‘ (Eu contez) by Romanian director Alina Șerban will have its world premiere at the 83rd edition of the Venice International Film Festival on September 8th. This selection marks a historic milestone as the first-ever feature film directed by a female Roma filmmaker to be showcased at a prestigious international A-list festival.
A deeply personal drama for the director. The film follows Rebeca (played by Denisa Farcaș), a young Roma woman leaving the Romanian foster care system to study acting at university. As she fights for her own independence and dreams, she is confronted by harsh realities and the complex expectations of her background.
‘I Matter’ will premiere on Tuesday, September 8th, at 21:00 (9:00 PM)
