Filming has begun on OH LOVELY BELGIUM, the new film by Stijn Coninx. Kevin Janssens and Virginie Hocq star in this comedy about Belgium, love and the sometimes impossible art of moving forward together. OH LOVELY BELGIUM is expected to be released in cinemas in autumn 2027.

For his new film, Stijn Coninx brings together a Flemish and French-speaking cast in a story where love, humor and the typically Belgian reality intersect.

Flemish Minister-President Johan (Kevin Janssens) is about to sign a manifesto establishing a two-state model, but when his Walloon counterpart Achille is unable to attend, his daughter Florence (Virginie Hocq) has to sign in his place. The problem is that Florence strongly objects to the text — and she also happens to be Johan’s former lover.
What begins as a signing ceremony turns into a chaotic road trip across Belgium, during which old feelings and tensions unexpectedly resurface. A comedy about Belgium and the (im)possible art of moving forward together.

The film was made with the support of the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), Screen Flanders, Screen Brussels, the Belgian Tax Shelter, BNP Paribas Fortis Film Finance, the Luxembourg Film Fund and the Creative Europe MEDIA Programme.
Kinepolis Film Distribution (KFD) will release the film in Belgian cinemas in autumn 2027.
