FIGHT GIRL grabs 2 prizes at JEF Festival

At the youth film festival JEF, organized in 6 cities in Flanders (BE) during the spring holidays, FIGHT GIRL by Johan Timmers received two awards: the children’s jury prize and the audience award.

Ineke Kanters (The Film Kitchen) and Dries Phlypo (Belgian co-producer A Private View) received the sculptures in Antwerp on 10 March.

Earlier FIGHT GIRL was the big winner of the Cinekid youth film festival in Amsterdam. Both the professional jury and the audience chose FIGHT GIRL as the best Dutch family film. Happy director Johan Timmers emphasized that the praise of the children’s jury was especially heartwarming.

Additionally, FIGHT GIRL is nominated for The City of Malmö Children’s Film Award 2019 as well as for the 8th EFA Young Audience Award. A jury of six 13 and 14 year old boys and girls have chosen the three nominated films for the 8th Young Audience Award. FIGHT GIRL will compete against LOS BANDO (Norway/Sweden) and OLD BOYS (UK/Sweden).
